Priority Versus Priorities
It occurred to me recently, the Christian life is not about priorities, but rather priority. You might be thinking the difference in the two is minimal. And, on the surface, I would certainly agree.
Priority is singular, thus would refer to a thing that takes precedence over another.
Priorities, on the other hand, is plural and refers to multiple things, each seeking to reign superior over another.
Here is the rub. When we speak in terms of things that take precedence over another we think of, and we usually speak of, priorities, plural, instead of priority, singular.
But, for Christians, our lives must center on the singular priority.
In Matthew 22:37, the Bible says, And he [Jesus] said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
Do you see the priority for the Christian? The Christian priority is singular, not plural. Our priority as Christians is love of God. We are to love God with our entire being.
If love of God is the priority of the Christian, then the plans and purposes of God in his/her life will take precedence. All the rest, will be put in its proper place.
What will be your priority for 2022?
God Bless,
